Please plan to join us for our Eleventh Annual Meeting on October 24th, when we will bring together project participants & people committed to protecting the Chesapeake watershed the Bay.
Our meeting will focus on cutting-edge trends in agriculture that simultaneously protect the Bay and address carbon sequestration — including the latest in science research and policy impacting on the watershed. Confirmed speakers include:
· Kristine Nichols, PhD, Chief Scientist of the Rodale Institute, a soil scientist and expert on regenerative organic agriculture and related issues. Rodale for 70 years has been one of the world’s most respected research centers on best practices in agriculture.
. Vicki Blazer, PhD, world renown Research Fish Ecologist with US Geological Survey. She will discuss recent research important to the Bay watershed. · Betsy Nicholas, JD, Executive Director of Waterkeepers Chesapeake and a leading expert in environmental law and policy. Waterkeepers Chesapeake is a coalition of 19 programs working on behalf of the Chesapeake watershed. It also convenes the Fair Farms coalition working for a food system that is fair to farmers, invests in homegrown healthy foods and restores waterways.
· Jay Feldman, Co-founder and Executive Director of Beyond Pesticides for 36 years, is one of the nation’s leading experts on regulatory and public policy regarding pesticides.
· Greg Allen, PhD, Environmental Scientist for the EPA’s Chesapeake Bay Program, will be our moderator for the day.
